A Vintage memoir journal.

Happy Easter!

Its time for another challenge over at the 

vintage Utfordringsblog

We on the design team recieved 

a great sponsor package to work with from 

7 dots studio!

I recieved one of their new collections, 

Cold Country.

With so many papers, stamps, diecuts and stickers

I decided to make an album to show off all of the lovley design papers,

diecuts, stickers and stamps.

Here is the album,

some of the pages are left blank for photographs, 

the tags and pages can also be used to journal on.

 The papers, diecuts, stamps and stamps all

from 7 Dots Studio - Cold Country.

Rubons, fountain pen nib and album rings are from Tim Holtz.

I painted the Plywood feathers from Prima with Inka Gold,

and distressed the edges with distress ink - Vintage photo.

I glued all of the papers down onto thick A5 peices of cardboard,

and distressed all of the edges using a sanding block from Making Memories.

The Vintage seam binding is from Snug-hug 

and the measuring tape band I dyed with some gray drawing ink,

 is from a local interior shop.

Vintage Birthday greetings

Here is a card I just made for the newest

Where we want to see

I dug out and blew the dust off my sewing machine 

and used real stiching on my card.

Of course I was going to buy that wonderful quote stamp

when I found it!

 I have used it on a canvas before and now here it is again on a card I have made,

and i'm sure its not the last time it will pop up on something i make!

I have taken some step photos 

of my card, just to run you through some of the 

process of card making.

Mainly layering.

I left out all of the work on distressing the papers etc

I'll do that another time.

Its been a long dark winter up here in Norway,

and whilst making this card I was hit by a longing for summer,

I think it has a lovley summery feel,

mostly down to that gorgeous design 

paper from 'Authentique'!

I had chosen to add my paint in the way of paint splatters,

in white and a mixed bluey green.

But decided it needed more so I dipped my finger

in a blob of quite dry white Acrylic paint, 

and ran it along the edges here and there.

as you might be able to see on the photo of the finished card again...

Christmas Tag Tutorial.

Challenge time over at 

Vintage Challenges

This time the challenge is called 

'Vintage Christmas'

A suiting challenge for this season, 

when it's about time we got started with Christmas projects, 

if you havn't already done so that is! : O) 

We want see your Christmas creations, 

ranging from Christmas cards,  

Christmas decorations, Christmas Notebooks to a Christmas scrapbook page. 

The choice is yours.

Just a criteria to stick to .... VINTAGE.

So put on some nostalgic Christmas music to get you in the mood,

This is how I made the tag.....

I used a Ranger #8 craft Kraft tag as the base.
Ripped up some old book pages and dipped them in some strong coffee,
and left them to dry over night.

I then used matt decoupage glue to attach them to the tag, I just painted on the glue
and lay the strips of pages over the tags, cutting off the stray edges
 then I sealed them with another coat of decoupage glue. 
Setting them aside to dry, flattening out the tags every now and then
so that they wern't too 'curly'.

Next step was to randomly stamp them with 
some wintery branch stamps from Basic Gray.
Once the stamps were dry I sprayed the tags with 
Perfect Pearls Mist - Biscotti,
and gave them a quick blow dry.
Then i used a pallet knife to randomly 
spread on an uneven patchy layer of gesso paint.

Once the gesso was dry, (that drys quite quickly)
I made another layer using the same teqnique using 
Distress paint - weatherwood over the Gesso. 
Making sure to leave open spaces so you could still 
see some of the stamps, old book pages and gesso.
 Distress paint takes a while to dry, 
and its not always a good idea to hurry the drying process up,
this affects the size and quantity of the crackles in the paint.
SO I put it to one side again to dry.

In the meantime I started rolling
some scrap book strips to make the christmas tree.
Decide how tall and wide you want your tree to be,
and make the strips accordingly, 
start with the longest and decend slightly each time in size. 
I sprayed the strips with a bit of water to dampen them 
thus making them easier to form.
A little line of glue along the edge of the roll and left to dry.
I glued a small doily peice to the tag.

I put a strip of doublesided tape on a scrap of cardboard 
approx 1 cm wide and 2 cm long 
and wrapped some red and white butchers string around it 
covering approx 1cm.
(Size will vary depending on the size of your tree).
I then glued the bottom rolls of christmas 
tree to the remaining peice of cardboard.
Then glued it to the tag and glued on the rest of the tree 'rolls'.
I used Panokit glue that drys fast and clear.

Final touches, I added a ribbon strip, some snowflakes and 
attached a ribbon through the hole.

 These techniques can be used on lots of different
projects imagination is your only limitation!

Its been a while!

My how time flys, its been a while since I posted anything here.

This does not mean I havn't been being creative!! 

I have been Uber active on that front.

I've been away at at scrap-meet weekend 

with over 100 scrap-mad ladys in Ski, 

a highlight of the autumn, 

much fun was had.

I've made a bunch of cards and mini albums and

even painted a few more canvases.

I have taken down my art exhibition peices and am looking forward 

to painting new canvases that will be displayed at the same gallery (cafe) 

next year in April and March. - Very exciting!

I still need to caych up and document most of the work,

 so today i'm going to show you 

the card I made for the last challenge over at Vintage challenges.

There is a new challenge posted today! 

(make a winter project/layout/card)

so do join in if you have the chance.

Here is my DT card for Vintage. 

I used the joker and another spare card from a pack of old playing cards.

 I gave the card a layered effect, by using 3D sticky pads between the paper layers.

A relativley quick and easy card, 

what took the most time was painting and distressing the wee frame, 

from a powdery lilac colour to this vintage gold, 

it turned out much better than I had hoped, 

so I'm pleased with the frame at least ;O)
