Its good to be home again!

We are home at last after being stranded in Scotland because of the volcano eruption in Island! An already long holiday of 3 weeks turned into a month long trip!
A long time to be away from home with my 2 small boys, but luckly we were staying with family, so it could have been worse.

There has been alot going on in blogland whilst I was away and I feel a bit out of touch.
I was just dying to get back to my hobby desk and the first thing I made was this Thank you card for an old neighbour who lent us their holiday cottage to help ease the fact that we were stranded and what a fantastic place Pittenween is in Fife!

Pittenween is an old fishing village from the 7th century, its got lovely old buildings, cobbled stoned windy narrow streets and cute fisherman cottages. My card has things that I found on the beach there even some sand on it that made its way back to Norway in one of the shells :OD

I just love the effect crackle paint gives.... and here you can see some of the sand i glued on.

The card is made out of a peice of cardboard I ripped and distressed.
I then mixed some hobby paints to get a kind of duck egg blue colour before painting it roughly with T.H. Distress crackle paint - frayed burlap, then distressing it some more with T.H. Distress ink - Vintage photo. The boat stamp is from Anita's, with hand written text.
The rusty butterfly and copper brads are from Minne hjørne, and the button, worn glass, sand and shell as mentioned before all comes from the beach in Pittenween.

The following card is for 3 challenges:
A spoon full of sugar - Who wanted a birthday card.
Stampavie and more - Who was looking for lace and button.
Sukkersøtt - Utfordring #81 - Ram det inn. (frame it.)

I had fun making this card, I have a bit of a soft spot for pink! and i just adore this stamp by Elisabeth Bell called 'Beary Big Hugs'.
Such sweet Papers from MME!!
The Spellbinder frames are borrowed from Wenche (thank you :O)
I distressed the edges then sewed around them, and inked them with T.H. distress ink - Tattered rose. The ribbon, lace, waxed cotton and Birthday text (in shiney silver not able to be shown on this scanned picture) are all from by bits and bobs box as is the button. The butterfly is from Minne Hjørne.
I will be spending the next couple of days trying to catch up with you all in blogland and having a closer look at what you have all been up to, I must say i'm really looking forward to that!
Thanks for any comments always interested in what you think :O)
Thats all for now folks :O9
Hugs Nina
